At BKBM Engineers, our experience, special skills, management and approach to engineering design allows us to meet new challenges with confidence. Each project provides us the opportunity to assess the project and incorporate the latest proven technology in design and construction for the long-term benefit of the client

Our initial involvement ideally begins with meeting all the team members, including the owner, architect, other engineering disciplines and, if selected, the contractor. It is critical that we understand the project from the client's point of view and determine where our services would be beneficial to the team. We then can define the scope of our services necessary to meet the client's needs.

Once we establish our scope of services, project budget, and schedule, we can begin work for the client. We make early contact with regulatory agencies that impact the site design and permitting. We also consider alternate structural framing systems based on the unique circumstances of the project. In addition, to architectural concerns, the mechanical and electrical systems usually have a major impact on the structural systems and framing orientation. We take a lead role early in the design to achieve an efficient structure that is well coordinated with the other building systems and delivers the architectural vision. BKBM is uniquely qualified in this approach since we managed mechanical and electrical disciplines in-house over many years. As we proceed through the design phase, we predict troublesome areas and present alternatives and recommend solutions keeping the idea of "constructability" in mind. Then we finish the design to achieve our client's needs for cost, quality, serviceability, and schedule.
